چکیده

ABSTRACT It was recently shown [1] that the sub-band signals resulting from the analysis of an ARMA process by a decimating filter bank can be modeled by individual lower-rate ARMA processes, by using the power spectral density concept. This paper discusses the validity of this modeling and the mapping of zeros and poles of the corresponding generator filters along the sub-bands. Based on these results, after some considerations related to the employment of sub-band systems in audio restoration, a sub-band version of a model-based technique for suppression of impulsive noise from audio recordings is proposed. Simulation results are presented and validated by subjective as well as objective means.

A model for an ARMA process split in sub-bands

Multi-rate digital processing [1] is today a well-established topic, extensively applied in communications, image and audio industry and other areas, for signal coding, adaptive or statistical processing etc. A special class of discrete random processes [2] are those obtained by passing white-noise through a linear digital filter—called Moving-Average (MA) for an Finite-Impulse-Response (FIR) f...

Monitoring Financial Processes with ARMA-GARCH Model Based on Shewhart Control Chart (Case Study: Tehran Stock Exchange)

Financial surveillance is an interesting area after financial crisis in recent years. In this subject, important financial indices are monitored using control charts. Control chart is a powerful instrument for detecting assignable causes which is considerably developed in industrial and service environments. In this paper, a monitoring procedure based on Shewhart control chart is proposed to mo...

Image Segmentation and Time Series Clustering Based on Spatial and Temporal ARMA Processes

Spatial autoregressive moving average (ARMA) processes have been extensively used in several applications in image/signal processing. In particular, these models have been used for image segmentation, edge detection and image filtering. Image restoration algorithms based on robust estimation of a two-dimensional process have been developed (Kashyap & Eom 1988). Also the two-dimensional autoregr...

Bayesian Enhancement of Speech and Audio Signals Which Can Be Modelled as Arma Processes

In application areas which involve digitised speech and audio signals, such as coding, digital remastering of old recordings and recognition of speech, it is often desirable to reduce the eeects of noise with the aim of enhancing intelligibility and perceived sound quality. We consider the case where noise sources contain non-Gaussian, impulsive elements superimposed upon a continuous Gaussian ...

Scalable Wide - band Audio Codec based on Frequency Domain Linear Prediction ( version 2 )

This paper proposes a technique for wide-band audio applications based on the predictability of the temporal evolution of Quadrature Mirror Filter (QMF) sub-band signals. An input audio signal is first decomposed into 64 sub-band signals using QMF decomposition. The temporal envelopes in critically sampled QMF sub-bands are approximated using frequency domain linear prediction applied over rela...
